China's Kashgar Region is the home of Saso
Saso, the Fragrant Olive

The Saso flower is the source of the mythical sweet aroma emitted by the legendary Chinese beauty Xiang Fei.
Though the name of this flower was made famous by Shiseido's SASO series, not many people have actually seen the flowering tree.
A deciduous tree native to the desert region of Kashgar in West China, Saso is not commonly found in other regions. It has tiny yellow four-petal flowers of about 7-8 milimeters, which have bell-shaped calyx tubes and are intensely fragrant.
According to the "Botanical Encyclopedia," it was introduced to Japan in 1925 as the "Willow-leaf Oleaster." The name Saso literally means "Date Palm of the Desert," but it actually belongs to the oleaster family.
