Medical grade

Overview

Shiseido has applied sodium hyaluronate to its own ethical products. The ophthalmic surgery adjuvant and the joint movement enhancer were approved and released in the market in 1993 and 1996, respectively. Besides its own consumption, sodium hyaluronate is now being supplied to many other pharmaceutical companies.


Active pharmaceutical ingredients

It has been approved in the ophthalmic surgery adjuvant and the joint movement enhancer, and also, a 0.1% eye drop. In addition to the one approved as a main ingredient in Japan, a type complying with European Pharmacopoeia (EP) is available.


Medicine intermediate

It has been used as a starting material for cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Type to be used as a drug delivery system (DDS) carrier (-COOH or -COONa) is also available.


Medical additive

Sodium hyaluronate has already been formulated as a medical additive into an eye drop and an external preparation. "Attached standards," describing test methods and specifications, were filed for these cases, and available as a reference for customers. Please contact us.
