Shiseido has applied sodium hyaluronate to the ethical pharmaceuticals such as the ophthalmic surgery adjuvant, etc. since 1993. Besides its own consumption, sodium hyaluronate has been supplied to many other pharmaceutical companies.
Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API)
Shiseido sodium hyaluronate API grade has been approved as the API of some pharmaceuticals like the surgery adjuvant and the joint movement enhancer. Two types complying with the "Purified sodium hyaluronate" of the Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP), and the "Sodium Hyaluronate" of the European Pharmacopoeia(EP) are available.
Medicine intermediate
It has been used as a starting material for cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Type to be used as a drug delivery system (DDS) carrier (-COOH or -COONa) is also available.
Medical additive
