In 1937, Carmine Lotion was launched as one of a series of medicated
cosmetics that included acne prevention and whitening products. The series was
based on Shiseido's belief that it was important to improve the complexion and
not just cover flaws with makeup.
Carmine Lotion, although imitated by competitive cosmetic companies, remained
Japan's only medicated lotion until the 1950's. |
