私たちはお互いに、友人からフィルムカメラをプレゼントされて、それでできることを探り始めました。私たちが出会ってコラボレーションを初めてからはそれが更に面白くなってきました。おそらく私たち二人とも才能に恵まれていて、それを発揮できるアートフォームを探していたんだと思います。

We both got our first film cameras presented by friends, so we started exploring what can be done with it. It seemed even more entertaining after we met and started our immortal collaboration. I think we both had some talent in stock and just needed to find which kind of art suits us best to unveil it.

デュオで活動するということはお互いに常にアイデアをシェアし、お互いを手に取るように理解する必要があります。通常私たちは、例えばメールの返事や雑誌のためのセレクト作業など具体的な細かな作業を分担する以外はすべての作業を一緒に行っています。デュオでいることで常にアイデアを交換し、よりよいアイデアをつくり上げることが可能です。ラッキーな事に私たちは趣味や知覚が似通っています。（それで「シンクロ」という名前にしています）そして私たちは二人とも、自然が何よりも好きです。（そのため「ドッグス」と名づけました）似通ったヴィジョンを持ち、最終形がどのようになるのかお互いに共通認識があるということは、とても作業しやすいです。

Being a duo means you have to share your thoughts all the time, you need to be transparent for each other. Usually we do everything together, dividing responsibilities only when it comes to smaller matters like answering long email list or editing pictures for publications. Being a duo influences us indeed as we can always exchange ideas and make even better ideas out of them. We are lucky to be very similar in our tastes and perceptions (which is the answer to a question 'Why Synchro?') and we both love natural environment more than any other (which is the answer to a question 'Why Dogs?'). This makes it easier for us to work on projects as we both have a similar vision of how the final output should look like.

大好きです。とても「カワイイ」です！屋久島にも行きたかったのですが、今回は時間がなく、温泉にでかけ、外では冷たい雨が降る中、ワインや緑茶でできた不思議な池（温泉のこと）で泳ぎました。下田の海岸で夜に花火を上げ、上野動物園にパンダも見に出かけました。山のように購入したカワイイ小物たちを詰めるために、かばんをもう一つ買わなくてはなりませんでした。そして、同じ時期に偶然東京にいた素晴らしい人達にも出会うことができました。ヴィヴィアン・サッセン、チャーリー・イングマン、オスマ・ハヴィラッティ、アレクサンダー・グロンスキー……。信じられないくらい素敵なことがたくさん起こった滞在でした。

We loved it, so 'kawaii' ! I wish we had some more time to get to (at least) Yakushima. But we managed to get to hot springs and swim in lakes made of hot wine, green tea, yoghurt, coffee (sounds touristic, right?). That was much fun and we enjoyed every single lake (and there were more then 20 of them by the way), it was a perfect combination together with cold rain outside. We also got to the ocean in Shimoda and launched some fireworks on the beach at night. Went to the zoo to see panda. Had to buy one more bag to take to a plane so that we can put all one hundred cute small Japanese things we bought.
Ah! And also met so many exciting people that happened to be in Tokyo those days - Viviane Sassen, Charlie Engman, Osma Harvilahti, Alexander Gronsky, unbelievable mix.

ここ数年で最もエキサイティングな仕事でした。素晴らしいチームが最高の結果を出すために支えあいました。美しい人達と仕事をするのが何よりも好きですが、モデルさん達は皆、優雅でアーティスティックで、言葉が通じなくともコミュニケーションがスムーズに運びました。言葉がなくてもあんな表現が出来るなんて、本当に才能に溢れた人たちです。

It was one of most exciting jobs we had in last years. First of all we had a great team, all helping each other to achieve best results. We (as photographers and as esthetes) love working with beautiful people, and all our models appeared to be very graceful and artistic, they were easy to communicate with even though we often didnt even know the language each of us is speaking. They must be having a pure talent to recreate all those emotions we required without any words.

ある正しいアングルから見た時に、エレガンスのあるものが美しいものです。奇妙さ、普通じゃなさ、不快さ、創造性、差異も美になり得ます。美的でないものというのは指摘しにくいものです。なぜなら美しさとは外見だけでなく、そこにある文脈、そしてその周りのものを含む全てを含んで判断できるものだからです。

All things can have its own elegance when viewed from right angle. Awkward is beautiful. Uncommon is beautiful. Peculiar. Innovative. Different. We often find it more difficult to point out things that are not beautiful actually, as it is not just visual qualities that make an object look good or bad, it is also the context it is taken from, all that surrounds it to make a complete picture.

TaniaとRomanからなる、ウクライナの写真デュオ。2015年の『花椿』表紙を撮り下ろす。多数のコマーシャル・ワークを行ってきた他、シカゴ、ロンドン、クラコフ、ヴェニスで個展を開催。ニューヨーク、パリ等でグループ展にも参加。2012年にはウクライナの「Photographer of the Year（Art Photography部門）」を受賞。

Tania and Roman, a photographer duo from Ukraine, will be shooting the cover for Hanatsubaki in 2015. Besides the countless commercial works in which they have been involved, they have also held solo exhibitions in Chicago, London, Krakow, and Venice. They have also participated in group exhibitions in New York and Paris. In 2012, they were awarded Photographer of the Year (Art Photography category) in Ukraine.
