1972年アムステルダム生まれ。現在アムステルダム在住。現在、数々のファッション誌やメゾンのためのシューティング、ファッションブランドのキャンペーンを手がける。また写真家としても2011年にNY・ICPのインフィニティ・アワードを受賞する他、数々の写真集、世界中で開催される展覧会ともに高い評価を得ている。2013年には新作『Pikin Slee』『ETAN & ME』を続けて発表。2013年にはヴェニス・ビエンナーレにおいて展覧会『LEXICON』を開催。2014年春にはオランダ写真美術館にて個展を開催し、同年秋には東京・恵比寿と東雲のG/P Galleryにて新作展を同時開催。現在2015年のドイツ・ボーズ写真賞にノミネートされている。 2月3日～4月12日までロンドンのＩＣＡにて展覧会を開催中。

Born in 1972 in Amsterdam, and lives and works there. Currently she is working as a fashion photographer for many fashion magazines and global campaigns for fashion brands. She is also an award-winning artist including the International Center of Photography in New York’s Infinity Award for Applied/Fashion/Advertising Photography. In 2013, she has presented her new work “Pikin Slee”and “ETAN & ME”. In 2014 her solo exhibition “UMBRA” was held in Nederlands Fotomuseum. In the fall of 2014 her first exhibition in Japan was held in G/P gallery in Ebisu and Shinonome, Tokyo,and her first Japanese photo book “LEXICON” was published. In 2013 she had an exhibition “LEXICON” as a part of the Venice Biennale and in 2015 she is nominated for the Deutsche Börse photography prize. Viviane Sassen’s work is now being showcased at ICA in London from February 3 to April 12.
