70年代は歌謡曲ブーム真っ盛り。特集の巻頭を当時の人気歌手の面々が飾っています。歌手の名前と、クイズの回答がすべてわかるという方はかなりの通と思われます。ほか、当時の人気作詞家、阿久悠による「歌手とはなにか」というコラムや、草刈正雄がロックミュージシャンに扮したビジュアルページなど、音楽尽くしの一号です。
Introduction to Singers
The boom for kayokyoku or Japanese popular songs was at its peak in the 1970s. The faces of singers who were popular back then graced the opening pages of special features. If you got all the names of the singers and the answers to the quizzes right, that means you are quite the expert. This issue is filled with a myriad of pieces related to music including the column “What’s a Singer?” by then popular songwriter Yu Aku, and a visual page with model/actor Masao Kusakari dressed up as a rock musician.

The Record
Until CDs hit the Japanese market in 1982, records were the dominant format. During the kayokyoku boom of the 1970s, the magazine did a special feature on records. The issue was filled with all sorts of interesting information related to records from the world’s rarest or strangest record covers to treasured records of The Beatles, and pornographic records.

1970年から79年までのヒットソングをまとめた「歌謡曲グラフィティ」。字を追うだけで当時のムードが漂う凝縮の2ページ。ところどころに織り交ぜられるコメントが楽しいです。
Kayokyoku Graffiti
Kayokyoku Graffiti is a compilation of hit songs from 1970 to 1979. Following the words on the two-page spread evokes a vibe of the era’s mood. The comments interwoven here and there on the page are a fun read.

某音楽テレビ番組で人気を博したDJ・小林克也による洋楽紹介コーナーです。20世紀に翻訳された作品を21世紀の今のことばで再翻訳する “新訳”という概念はいまでこそ定着していますが、当企画では発売直後の新譜を対象に同氏の絶妙な解釈を加えて“新訳”。親しみやすい新訳によって、洋楽がぐっと身近に感じる企画です。
Katsuya Kobayashi’s Shinyaku Onban
This section features an introduction to Western music by popular TV music program host Katsuya Kobayashi. The general notions of “new translations,” which are retranslations of lyrics translated in the 20th century into 21st century language, have become a standard. In this column, Katsuya Kobayashi takes newly released songs and creates “new translations” while adding his own marvelous interpretations. His casual and relatable new translations help to bring Western music closer to the hearts of Japanese listeners.
