そんな現代詩花椿賞には、偶数の選考委員がいます。これは多数決によらず、徹底した討議を経た全会一致でその年の一作を決めるという確固たる想いから課せられたルールです。
One characteristic of the Hanatsubaki Award for Contemporary Poetry is that there is an even number of members on the selection committee. This rule was adopted from the firm resolution to select the year’s recipient unanimously through discussions and debates rather than by simple majority rule.
そして正賞である特製香水入れも特徴のひとつです。これは受賞作のために創られた香水入れで、世界にただひとつしかありません。現代詩花椿賞が30回を迎えた2012年に編まれた『現代詩花椿賞アンソロジー』のなかで、創設に深く関わった現資生堂名誉会長の福原義春が「ことばを拾い、編み出して詩を作るのは、香水を創るのによく似ているのかもしれない」と記しているように、詩と香水の創作になにか近しいものを感じるからこそのゆえんです。
Another characteristic is the special perfume bottle presented to the recipient. This perfume bottle, of which only one exists in the world, is created especially for the prize-winning work. In the Hanatsubaki Award of Contemporary Poetry The 30th Anniversary 1983-2012 published in 2012 in commemoration of the award’s 30th anniversary, Shiseido Honorary Chairman Yoshiharu Fukuhara, who was deeply involved in establishing the award, says, “Selecting words to weave into poetry seems similar to producing perfume.” In this way, the award may be rooted in the perceived similarity between the production of poetry and perfume. A cosmetics company presenting award recipients with a one-of-a-kind perfume bottle is a reflection of the uniqueness of this award.
ことばの芸術といわれる詩。現代詩花椿賞は詩を心から愛する選考委員の方々と作品を編んだ受賞者の方々とに支えられて現在まで続けてきました。本賞をとおして、詩と『花椿』の関わりはこれからも続いてゆきます。
Poetry is an art of words. The Hanatsubaki Award for Contemporary Poetry has grown to where it is today with the support of the selection committee whose members are deeply committed to poetry and the award recipients who created the works. We will continue to build the bridge between poetry and Hanatsubaki through this award.
