「美しい生活文化に寄与する情報を」という想いをたずさえて創刊した『花椿』。人々の生活を美しくするもの、つまり芸術は『花椿』にとってとても大事なもので、その精神は誌面の細部に息づいています。今回は『花椿』の芸術に関連した企画をご紹介します。

Hanatsubaki was launched with the mission to provide readers with information that contributes to beauty in life and culture. Art, an element that brings beauty to people's lives, is a vital part of Hanatsubaki, and the spirit of art dwells amid the details of the magazine’s pages. In this issue, we introduce the projects related to art in Hanatsubaki.

ソニア・ドローネイ

まずは『花椿』における芸術を取り上げた連載企画から。50年代はマネやマチス、シャガールなど画家の作品を積極的に表紙へ起用し、表紙を通して第一級の芸術作品を紹介していました。こちらはフランスで活躍した画家、ソニア・ドローネイの作品。テキスタイル・デザインや本の装丁、室内の装飾など広い分野で才能を発揮したドローネイは、作品の芸術性の高さだけでなく、女性の多様な生き方を示す好例でもありました。
※生誕130年を迎える今年、彼女の作品を一同に集めた回顧展がロンドンのテート・モダンで開催中です（8月9日まで）。

Sonia Delaunay

Let's start with serialized projects in Hanatsubaki related to art.In the 1950s, artists such as Manet, Matisse, and Chagall appeared on the front cover of the magazine which was used as a portal to introduce first-rate artwork. The piece shown here was done by the French artist, Sonia Delaunay. Delaunay, who displayed her talent in a myriad of areas, including in textile design, book bindings and interior decorations, was not only a highly talented artist, but also a great example of the diversity in the way women lead their lives.
*This year, which marks the 130th anniversary since her birth, a collection of Delaunay's work is being showcased at London's Tate Modern (until August 9).

詩の連載

有名無名にかかわらず、読む人の心を打つ、良質な作品を紹介していました。こちらの詩作は谷川俊太郎によるもの。挿画を現代美術家の岡本太郎が担当しています。ことばの芸術である詩と現代絵画美術の融合した、『花椿』ならではの企画です。

Poems that appeared

Regardless of whether they were written by famous or unknown poets, this issue introduces high-quality poems that move readers' hearts. The poem that appears here was written by Shuntaro Tanikawa. The illustration was done by contemporary artist, Taro Okamoto. This project, which combines the art of poetic words with contemporary pictorial art, is distinctive to Hanatsubaki.

日本の衣服の文様

舞台美術家兼画家の山本武夫による日本伝統芸術に関する連載コラムです。小村雪岱に師事し美人画を学び、資生堂意匠部でグラフィック・デザイナーとして活躍した経験もある著者はこの衣服の文様シリーズのほか、洋裁・和服シリーズも執筆。衣装文化を軸にデザインや美意識を深く考察しました。

Japanese Clothing Patterns

This is a serialized column about Japanese traditional art by stage artist and painter, Takeo Yamamoto.Trained by Settai Komura in the art of Nihon-ga portraying beautiful women, Yamamoto who has experience working in the Shiseido Design Department as a graphic designer, wrote this series about clothing patterns, as well as a series on dressmaking and Japanese clothing. With clothing culture as the axis, Yamamoto probed deeply into the world of aesthetics.

月々のかたち

民藝品に関する年間連載企画。七月は扇子とうちわ、八月は花火といったように、生活に根付く風物をかたち（造形）の面から取り上げています。様式美を備えた民藝品は生活に身近な美しいものとして、この企画のほかにもたびたび誌面に取り上げられました。

Monthly Shapes

This project was based on a year-long series about folk handicraft. The articles explored the tangible aspects of seasonal traditions in the everyday lives of Japanese people such as a look at Japanese folding fans and round paper fans in July, and fireworks in August. Besides this project, Hanatsubaki often explored the sophisticated form of beauty in folk handicraft as familiar elements of beauty.
