横尾忠則「LOVEすごろく」

新しい情報を取り上げることは雑誌の使命。『花椿』も芸術のトレンド、とりわけそれを表現するアーティストの存在には敏感でした。こちらは巻頭特集「1967現代女性論」にあわせて、女性の一生をすごろく調で表した「LOVEすごろく」。グラフィック・デザイナーの横尾忠則による作品で、これは横尾氏の作品がニューヨーク近代美術館に所蔵され、国際的な芸術家として認知されはじめた頃に創作されました。

“LOVE Sugoroku” by Tadanori Yokoo

The magazine’s mission is to provide readers with the latest information. Hanatsubaki was always well attuned to art trends with particular focus on the artist. Shown here is “Love Sugoroku,” illustrating the life of a woman in sugoroku style to correspond with the “1967 Modern Woman Theory,” which appears in the opening pages of the issue. Created by graphic designer Tadanori Yokoo, this piece was created around the time his work was acquired by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and he was beginning to gain recognition as an international artist.

宋左近「芸術とファッション」

詩人・宋左近による、芸術に関する論考「芸術とファッション」。芸術には現代感情の発露がみえねばならないという独自の説を解き、ちょうどそのころ盛り上がってきたオプ・アートに触れ、芸術のトレンドはすぐにファッションに取り入れられてゆくだろうと言及しています。

“Art and Fashion” by Sakon So

“Art and Fashion” is a composition on art written by poet, Sakon So. Possessing a unique view that art must reflect modern sentiments, in regard to op art which was a hot trend during the period, he commented that the latest trends in art will be quickly incorporated into fashion.

ダギー・フィールズ

ロンドンの画家、ダギー・フィールズの特集。当時32歳のフィールズ氏は、新進芸術家のひとりとして注目されていました。1983年には資生堂の若者向け化粧品パーキー・ジーンのグラフィックにて大々的にフィーチャーされました。グローバルな視点で、若い才能をいち早く紹介することは『花椿』の大事な仕事のひとつです。

Duggie Fields

This is a special feature about Duggie Fields, a London-based artist. At the time the feature was written, Fields was 32 years old and he was garnering attention as an up and coming artist. Later in 1983, his vision of the world was dynamically featured on the graphics of Shiseido’s Perky Jean cosmetics, which was geared towards the younger crowd. Introducing young artists early on in their careers from a global perspective is one of Hanatsubaki’s most important jobs.

マリアーノ・フォルトニー

スペイン人のマリアーノ・フォルトニーは衣裳を芸術にまで高めたアーティスト。同年ニューヨークのメトロポリタン美術館で開催された彼の回顧展の機にあわせ、誌面ではこのように特集を組みました。過去に忘れ去られた優れた芸術をすくい、現代に紹介していくこともまた、『花椿』の役割でした。 写真：Sacha Van Dorssen

Mariano Fortuny

Mariano Fortuny is a Spanish artist who took the clothing to the level of art. In conjunction with the retrospective exhibition he held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York that year, Hanatsubaki did a special feature on Mariano Fortuny as shown here.
