情報ページのはじまり
『花椿』のファッションの特徴、三つ目は「情報としてのファッション」です。ファッションと聞くとまず先に洋服を思い浮かべますが、その語源は「流行」。洋服に限らず、音楽や映画、食べ物、文学、おもちゃなどさまざまな分野の流行っているもの・こと・ひとを取り上げるページは1969年に「NOW! OH! O MY! WELL! YAH! SO!」として登場。その後幾たびかのタイトル変更を経て、80年代後半からは「IN FASHION」として定着しました。『ローリングストーン』誌のアメリカでの人気ぶりやアイスクリームの配達のお知らせ、お手玉の再流行などを記事にしています。
The Launch of the Information Page
The third element of fashion featured in Hanatsubaki is “Fashion as Information.” The first this that comes to mind when fashion is mentioned is clothing, but the word fashion stems from “trend.” In 1969, the page entitled “Now! Oh! O My! Well! Yah! So!” featured not only clothes, but music, movies, food, literature, toys and various other objects, words and people that were in vogue. In the late 1980s the title of the column was changed to and came to be recognized as “In Fashion.” This column presents information such as the popularity of the Rolling Stone magazine in America, notices about ice cream deliveries, and the resurgence of the otedama juggling bags game.

情報ページの最終形がこの「IN FASHION」。内容は注目の歌手から洋服のディテール、書籍の新刊、人気のモデル、新規開店の複合施設まで、あらゆる情報をまとめていました。今の流行がひとめでわかる、インパクトのあるレイアウトが評判でした。
The “In Fashion” column can be found as the final form of the Information Page. The information provided ranges from popular singers to details on clothing, new books, popular models, and newly opened multi-purpose facilities. This page is highly regarded for the impact of the layout which makes it easy to see what’s popular with one glance.
偏見のLIZ
ファッションの情報ページの番外編がこの企画。ロサンゼルス生まれのヴィンテージコレクター、リズ・ゴールドウィンによる連載です。コラムという体裁ではありますが、ここで紹介されている彼女が行ったところ、あった人、着た服は旬なものばかり。まさにファッション、な連載でした。
Biased Liz
This is a supplemental edition of the fashion information page. It is serially published by Los Angeles-born vintage collector Liz Goldwyn. Although it’s in column style, the information introduced about where she went, who she met and the clothes she wore are all in style. This piece is truly serialized fashion information.
